Much, much better. As few things, still, though: See the colour that Thailand is coloured with? Manchukuo (The Northernmost bit of Japanese China, next to Korea.) should be coloured like that. Also, the Japanese might be able to get away with annexing the southern part of China (Guangdong and Guangexi), but the rest of it would (Except perhaps not Weihei and Shanghai...) either be given to Manchukuo or released as a separate client state. You have also made a mistake in pasting in Kashmir, Turkestan, and Tana Tuva.

here's the next Anglo-American Rivalry map, set in 1882. however, i cant help but feel that its missing something...

anyway, the American Civil War is long over now, and the Reconstruction period ended recently with the readmission of Georgia to the Union. more states have been ratified and previously large territories have been reorganized into smaller ones; don't expect many more changes in terms of territory with the continental US. due to the butterfly effect, Alaska stays in Russian hands (though you'll notice its a little smaller than IOTL), but Hawaii can and probably will become a US territory before the turn of the century. the Mormons in Utah Territory have begun trying to organize their own state, Deseret, also drawing in a disjointed part of an unorganized territory (formerly part of Utah Territory) and the Wyoming Territory; as IOTL, though, they have little recognition or power. the US has been gradually expanding its influence and finding a few allies and co-belligerents for the future: relations with Oman have strengthened a bit, though most notably the US essentially has a colony in Southeast Asia: North Borneo. IOTL, Charles Lee Moses was the US Consul to Brunei, and obtained a ten-year lease to all of north Borneo by the Sultan of Brunei, but sold those rights to Hong Kong later. due to butterflies here, though, North Borneo is an independent state which is under the de facto control of the US, and will likely later become a state in its own right.

elsewhere in the Americas, Mexico has regained its full independence and ousted the French puppet government, reorganizing itself as the United Mexican States. you'll notice, though, that the Yucatan has that light-blue outline. that's because, in the confusion of the rebellion against Maximilian I, the Yucatanians (particularly the descendants of Mayans) have sought autonomy or straight-up independence from Mexico. as before, South America has changed little, but Chile is getting to more recognizable borders and Argentina is moving southward. the more significant changes here from 1864, though, are with Chile: Spain has sold the Malvinas to them, and they are even exhibiting some colonial attitudes, expanding westward and establishing Chilean Polynesia as well as laying claim to Easter Island.

greater changes have finally come to Africa: the Scramble has just started and the Europeans and a few other powers are racing to stake their claims on the Dark Continent. the remainder of the Wolof states have been overthrown by France, and Portugal is expanding a bit just to the south of there. Belgium has established its first ports on the continent and France has expanded its equatorial claims as well. Ethiopia has grown a bit a well, along with Danish influence in the west. Britain has taken control of Egypt, though its not a protectorate just yet. the real newcomers to the continent, though, are the Germans.

Europe is finally experiencing some greater changes. two unification periods have come and gone, and the German Empire and Italian Federation have come to be as a result. Italy is colored differently because Naples was the driving force behind the unification; due to butterflies, the new Italian Federation also includes Savoy and (unstated) de facto independence for Sicily and the Papacy. the Ottomans have lost some of their territory, with the Austrians invading Bosnia, Greece expanding its territory, and Romania and Bulgaria becoming independent.

Asia and Oceania have changed a bit, mostly in colonial expansions. Britain has come to control Aden in southern Arabia, and their power on the Indian Subcontinent has expanded as well. bits of Persia have been carved out into new regions of British India which have de jure independence. Germany has also staked a claim, taking northeastern Papua while Britain takes the south. Australia is also further on the way to dominionship, with only Swan River still under colonial administration. more of Canada has also been divvied up into other regions, including the newly dominionified Keewatin and Manitoba.

thats just about all there is for this map. the next one will probably be set during the imperial period but before the turn of the century. at that point, i'll probably need to open up a formal discussion thread to find out where to go next, as i honestly have no idea how TTL's WW1 will turn out

OK. This one is NOT supposed to be COMPLETELY realistic. Enjoy it anyway.

Heaven Has No Rage, Like Love to Hatred Turned: An Alternate Cold War.

The First Great War, I am sure nobody would forget that, for it established fascism in Russia, democracy in Germany and Austria-Bohemia, and dissolved the Austro-Hungarian Empire as a nation. What happened next was different.

America was always democratic, but the British Empire... Well... the loans taken out from America to fight the Germans and Austro-Hungarians, crippled the nation, threw it in large debts, that it would take seventy years to repay, by normal conditions. Unfortunately, fate said otherwise. There were troubles in Canada, and it left the Commonwealth, with its share of the debts. This lightened the load a bit on the debt-ridden Empire, but a lot of people were sick of the loans.

Then came the collapse of the Bonn Republic... This threw the world in a depression, which the Americans responded to, quite illogically, by banning tobacco. Prohibition it was called. "Smoke-easies" was created in every major city. Even one President, Stephen W. Hildebrandt, smoked cigarettes in private. In Britain, however, the Great Depression hit it particularly hard. Its debts were multiplied many times, and it would have taken a millennium to pay back. The Cambridge Act, created by America, removed a lot of that, but it was still impossible to pay... Then, in 1932, the British people elected a new leader to the Prime Ministry, Clement Attlee, who promised to find a way to get rid of the crippling debt. Unfortunately, he was never to last the month out.

15th February 1932, was a very cold and bitter day. The Ministers and Lords was all absent, for reasons that would later become evident. Clement Attlee was working in his office, when a mysterious stranger burst in, and aimed a pistol to his head. Thus started Britain's next age, a Red Age.

Michael Leonard Mason, the leader of the People’s Party of Britain, led a most unlikely but successful coup that kicked the Monarchy to India and created the Worker’s Federation, a world-wide communist nation, with land in Africa, America, Oceania, Asia and of course, Europe. His reason was that he was sick of the financial system that crushed Britain under unreasonable debt. The Communist System introduced in the Worker’s Federation, ended all debt immediately. The Americans was scornful of this new Communist regime, for this very reason, but due to their own Depression getting worse, they couldn’t declare war.

Then entered Franklin Delano Roosevelt, America’s new President. He introduced the “New Deal” and then things seemed to get better. But, then he was assassinated in 1936… John Nance Garner, his Vice President, by American law, became the next President. Then the Second Great War started…

In the Second Great War, the syndicalist Germans, Scandinavians and Austro-Hungarians (A-H survived as a loose organization, centralized by Adolf Hitler in 1935) fought against the communist British, the fascist Russians and the democratic Americans, which were dragged on the Russian and WF’s side by an attack by the United Kingdom of Greater India and Southern Arabia, the British Monarchy-in-exile.

It was a long and bloody war, which ended with Europe being divided in Communist, Fascist and Democratic spheres. France and the North Sea Countries became Commie. Eastern Europe became Fascist and Southern Europe stayed/became Democratic. Germany was divided in two occupation zones, the West communist, the east Fascist.

Now, it is the end of the Second Great War, and things are getting frosty between the three allies, which relationship weren’t that good anyway…

I thought It made sense to repost this in the Map Thread.

This is a Preliminary Map that I have been working on for Rise and Fall of the Third Roman Empire; A world map of 1392 AH, which is around 1977 AD. The world is back sixty years because of the disruptions that occurred in the Rennaisance. For example, London is less powerful than OTL, being sacked during the English Civil Wars by the warring factions and the Dutch. It has been replaced by Gloucester (Capital of the UCR and Unified England) and York (Capital of East Anglia).

Its not Really Finished, as I can`t think of how Indonesia and Africa should be.

The Factions in Europe are Ottomans-Danubia-Crimea-Persia, and Saruhan-Baltic States-Spain-North Africa.

How did Saruhan, of all the Turks, drive out Osman? ...How did the Ottomans, then, survive?!

You looking at it wrong.

A Turkish Prince named Saruhan lead a rebellion against Inept Ottoman Emperor(The Empire was called the Third Roman Empire by this Point in this TL) during a time of weakness a few years after the conquest of Burgundy, leading to the collapse of the empire. It could only desperately hold onto France and Italy.

Things were very different:

That's the third largest Ottoman wank I've ever seen.

Holy Persian Empire

This alternate history map shows the Holy Persian Empire, one of the many successor states of the Mongolian Empire. Temudjin, better known as Chinggis Khan, converts to the Nestorian branch of Christianity during his time with the Kereit tribe, founding a Christian-Mongolian dynasty.
The main thrust in the west goes more to the Holy Land with side shows in Europe; under Ögedei Khan and Paolos Hülagü Khan the Sultanates in the Middle East are crushed and Christianity is restored. Great Khan Yohannis Möngke, and later Great Khan Petros Qurutai of North China, confirm the rule of Paolos Hülegü Khan over the Holy Land.
Over the time the Great Empire breaks up, but its most powerful successors, the Holy Persian Empire, the Delhian Empire and the Chinese Yuan Empire (both with a strong Christian influence) have still a large influence.

Nice map. I take it those islands are like Iceland and volcanic since they sit on the Mid-Atlantic ridge?
Yep, the islands were formed by rifting and volcanic accretion along the ridge. One thing I'm unsure of is what the climate would be like, I'm assuming Atlantes would be kept warm by the gulf stream and would therefore be closer to the Azores in climate than to Iceland?
