January 1942
At the end of 1941, Mexico and Argentina fell into civil war, as socialist insurgencies backed by the UAWR broke out. The sleeping giant of America stirred and directly intervened in the Mexican Civil War, the army which had swollen over the last few years, sent south to aid their southern 'comrades'. Argentina on the other hand, felt left out and in the shade. At the moment, Mexico and the Philippines are the only official members of the newborn Liberty International alongside the UAWR, but Cuba, Paraguay and Liberia have long been close to Washington, and it is quite clear that the American government has grand plans for the Western Hemisphere.
The declaration of war in support of the Mexican revolutionaries has seen the Abraham Lincoln Legion recalled back home to wage a war of liberation in the shadow of the mother country. The loss of these volunteers has not worried the Anti-Fascist Alliance. The Axis advance has halted and begun to crumble. In East Asia, Japanese troops cut off in Cambodia have gone rogue, killing their Kempetai officers and turning bandit. While British forces advance into Burma and the French remain disorganised, this situation has been allowed to continue. The Italy advances in North Africa have begun to be turned back, and while the keeps up a crawling advance in East Africa, she has been denied access to Lake Victoria. Soviet forces advance across the Middle East and threaten to reopen the Suez Canal to Anti-Fascist forces. The Soviets continue the long slog west into occupied Eastern Europe, while the Danish with British support have made a leap southwards into Northern Germany. The industry and manpower of the Axis has been stretched quite far. Now, the fightback begins.
