Everyone disappears except for AH.com members

Ok. Tomorrow at 15:00 GMT every person on Earth who doesn't have an account on AH.com disappears.

What happens?

I finally have something interesting to talk to.

In reality, I'd loot every building in Southern Connecticut, then spread out along the States. Then, I'd learn how to sail and hit Europe, eventually ending my journey in Japan. After all, I doubt it would be severely overpopulated, and it's really quite beautiful.

I will also befriend every cat I can find and travel with them. Given that I'm far from any city, I could live quite comfortably alone with my cats and my canned goods. All I have to do is walk for about an hour to my Wal-Mart and get the cans out of the summer heat, then take the cooling decide with me, and I'm set.

Only regret; none of my family, nor my girlfriend, are AH.com-ers. Other than that, I think the world would be better off if it happened. At least most of us are intelligent. Oh, wait, other only regret; no new material from my favorite game and book makers. Hmm...wonder if Turtledove visits this place...we mention him often enough...

Three things (and two of them more serious than the third).

1) The human race is doomed to extinction, as male/female ratio has just become incredibly lopsided, and with pretty much no communication between the survivors, what is the chance that any of us would actually manage to meet one another, or at least find out where each one of the survivors is? Not to mention that this leaves a tiny gene-pool, so that even if some of us do manage to meet, and by extension through some miracle the eventual groups end up having a reasonable gender ratio, I am not sure if this would result in a sustainable population beyond the first few generations.

2) Do the banned members, trolls, spammers, etc survive too? That would be... interesting. While I suspect that some of the trolls would simply wither and die due to their lack of ability to survive (I mean, someone like Rockingham clearly has no life, and is probably incapable of surviving completely on his own), consider that there were some nasty characters that showed up and were banned for it. If the banned members go through, it means that there will be some nasty folk around (think neo-nazis and such).

3) Survival rate of various secret services, government police, etc is going to be much higher than expected (providing this site is being monitored by such groups, and luakel REALLY is Agent Ferguson )

I'd guess we all die, since most of us wouldn't even be able to grow our own food, and several of you have serious medical conditions that require constant medication... and the only hope of repopulating the earth would be with Elle Jay and Yuppie?

Well, consider that its every single AH.Commer-including the ones who simply joined and then never posted, or rarely posted. Upon inspection, looking at the various usernames, there are actually quite a few more female members than one might think, though the male-female ratio is still lopsided. However, instead of it being say 1,500 "active" (oo-er) males and say 10 females, it would probably be a much more reasonable say 5,000 males and 100 females.

To give us all a slightly better chance of survival, lets say that all computers continue to work indefinetly and that we can access this site. This means we can communicate much more easily.

The banned members disappear as well.

Also, I wonder if those of us who DO have significant others might be in for a surprise, especially if their significant others are either jealous of AH.COM or paranoid about it...

the main problem would be that we are all so scattered.... sure there'd be a couple dozen in Michigan, 3 or 4 in Ottawa, and 3 or 4 in Denver, but to get all the skills needed together in one place would be daunting. And then there's all of you who would really be isolated... Baldie would be by himself in Iraq, there would only be about 4 people in all of S. America...

not to mention, there would be a wave of deaths after the great disappearance, when planes crashed into buildings where one of us was, or those of us driving on crowded highways when all the other drivers suddenly vanish out of their cars...

and then, even if we heroically managed the impossible and got a bunch of us together in one place... could we survive? I don't think there are a lot of farmers on the board...
