DBWI: The most ASB timeline of the 20th and 21st Centuries ever.

Alright AH.com, your job is to help me come up with the most ASB possible timeline for the 20th Century. It'll work like this, I suggest events that happen in the TL, and you tell me why they're completely ASB given our current timeline. Let's start off with the first 5.

1914: Archduke Franz Ferdinand of the Austro-Hungarian Empire is assassinated by a Serbian radical, thus precipitating World War I.

1917: Russian Revolution. Communists overthrow the Russian Czar

1933: Adolf Hitler comes to power in Germany

1945: Nuclear bombs are dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, effectively ending the Second World War.

9/11/2001: Al Qaida crashes several airplanes into the World Trade Centers and the Pentagon, killing nearly 3,000.

ooc: Basically, we're living in an Alternate History, and you have to tell me why OTL is now ASB.

Pfft! Serbian nationalism, what type of shit is that? We all know that the Serbs gave up their nationalist strains in the 1820s when the First Greek Republic, in tandem with the Egyptian Republic of 98, marched into the Balkans and brought true civilization to them.

And a Russian Revolution? Those guys will never overthrow their tsar, no matter how many of his own people he kills in the building projects.

Hitler? Did you just throw together some Allemanic names? Maybe you meant Aloisa Hiedlerton, the Secretary of Defense for the Bavarian Co-Prosperity Sphere.

Where is Hiroshima and Nagasaki? They sound vaguely Jepangi.

al-Qaida? The student group in Lebanon that has been peacefully protesting the continued Ottoman presence in their homeland?

The idea of a world war is preposterous...the world's economies would shut down. Our world has been too economically interdependent since the beginning of the 20th century to have anything close to a conflict that could be called a "world war".

Can't have a Germany unless you can get Prussia to democratize before the 1940 revolution splits it.

You need an early POD to get nuclear weapons before the OTL date of 1960.

9/11/2001: Al Qaida crashes several airplanes into the World Trade Centers and the Pentagon, killing nearly 3,000.

Is that Arabic? Unlikely that such a group could exist without the Ottomans coming down very hard on it.

Considering that the Hapsburgh Dynasty's history of isolationism, wouldn't it be more likely that the assassination be seen as an internal affair, and in a worse case scenario a bloody civil war along ethnic and religious lines? Other than that, why would it involve other countries?

1917: Russian Revolution. Communists overthrow the Russian Czar

Let me get this straight... Communism as described by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels describes a Socialist state emerging as a result of the abuses of an industrial state. Despite Czar Nicholas II's domestic policies, wouldn't a "Communist Revolution" take place in Great Britain, France, or Germany? If anything, Russia is more of a agrarian society backed by a absolute monarchy....

1933: Adolf Hitler comes to power in Germany

This one is clearly silly. Adolf Hitler was one of the key artists of the Weimar School of Impressionism. Are you proposing that Pablo Picasso become the absolute dictator of Spain? Or how about Norman Rockwell as President?

1945: Nuclear bombs are dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, effectively ending the Second World War.

Let me guess, Germany with its scientific geniuses and technical skill, decided to go to war with Japan... If anything, considering all of hte great physicists at the time period (e.g. Einstein, Planck, Schrodinger, et al.) were in Germany, this is the only logical conclusion...

Why would America be involved in the affairs of the "Great Game". If anything, the affairs of the Ottoman Empire have been the purview of the states of Great Britain, France and Russia. As such, why would the Ottoman Empire attack the United States? Russia had up to 500,000 troops in the region until 1991, and Great Britain along with France have had permanent bases in the region since the 1700s. Surely those countries would be larger targets....

1. Why would Serbia attack it's own country? After the democratization of the country in 1867, all ethnicities were treated equally there. Serbia joined as a province in 1900. And Franz Ferdinand was just a famous actor from the country, never into A-H politics.

2. The Czar would never be taken down. There was no man to lead any revolution. Besides, people were happy with the Czar. (Lenin is OTL Conservative in this one)

3. You mean that artist popular in the Weimar Republic of Germany? He was also apolitical and didn't care about politics. He was more concerned with his art and helping out his rabbi.

4. First of all, there was never any world war. Second of all, Nuclear weapons weren't made until 1954.

5. Al-Qaida? What the hell is that? It sounds Arabic. But The Ottomans are allies of The Americans, due to trade. why attack a trading partner?

1: Wasn't he one of those secularist republicans? Pah, I could never see this happening, with the Ottoman Empire resurging the way it did at the time. Secularism was doomed anyway; there's a reason the capital was named 'Islambol'.

2. The Ottoman Empire would never have allowed this to happen. I mean, in order for the Zionists to win, they needed to have the support of England or the US, and both were in no state to challenge the Ottomans in the region.

1. You mean the Jewish guy? During that time, only Muslims could be in power in The Ottoman Empire. Remember, it wasn't until 1945 that a non-Muslim could be elected.

5. You mean the VP? Gerald Ford was President from 1968-1976. He was one of the cleanest politicians during the late 60;s and the 70's. Nixon tried to run in '76, but lost to Jimmy Carter.

Well during the end of his career Marx did consider Russia as a candidate for the first socialist state.

Russia was in an alliance with Great Britain and France. Whatever alliance that Russia is in I'm sure the Ottomon Empire would join the alliance with Germany and Austria before you can say Arabian Barbecue. If they lost in a war then I'm sure the Ottomon Empire would have splinterd into several smaller nations and if the U.S. did something to really piss off one of these new nations it would naturally strick back.
