Boiling Point by Thomas Merritt
I was on the Alternate History Literature webring, one of those sad sack relics from the '90s. One of the links is to "Boiling Point" by one Thomas A. Merritt, the executive editor for CNET. It's one of those Second American Civil War scenarios, complete with crappy balkanized map.
That site dates to 1997. But apparently, ten years later he completed the book (hopefully updated with quality), and here's a CNET wiki page on it. Anyway, anyone read it? Is it better than Kratman's terrible A State of Disobedience? |

GAAAH!! He didn't curve the borders!!!!!!
(What makes it worse is that when a border follows a state border, it's curved, but when it doesn't, it's not.) |

But Vancouver Island has sank into the sea and half of Hudson's Bay appears to have been reclaimed as land
