Hitler waits until 1943
Some of the books I've read on WWII say that Hitler's Generals wanted him to wait until 1943 before starting WWII.
What if he had? Would he have gone into battle with jets, rockets and a more highly developed atom bomb? or would he have started the war with a larger but now effectively outdated fleet of ME 109s. Would Russia or England have attacked him? Would his economy hold out in peacetime? |

Most economists were astonished the German economy supported his deficit-funded armaments programs as long as it did. No way of saying fort sure,. of course, but I suspect by continuing the same policy, Germany would become increasingly dependent on the USSR (which would deliver raw materials in return for non-monetary payment). Talking of Hitler's Germany becoming a Soviet satellite is going too far, but the concern over dependence might well become real.

Each hour Hitler waits will decrease his chances. The British had been rearming since 1936 and the French preparations were speeding up too. IMHO attacking on 10th of June 1940 instead of 10th of May 1940 may well have had the attack fail.

If he had started doing the research in 1933 but delayed the rearming, then he could have attacked in 1940 instead and still have had an initial production advantage over the western allies. But Russia started rearming in 1932. Stalin would have rolled over him in 1942 if they had had the weapons and resources and manpower for that extra year.
