WI Emperor Justinian doesnt close the Academy and other schools in Athens?

In 529 Emperor Justinian ordered the shut down of the Athenian Philosophical Academy and other Philosophical schools... leading to a long decline of philosophy in the East...
WI he didnt shut them down? What would have changed?
Any thoughts?
