Map Challenge: Craaaazy North America

here is a map I made. I think it is purdy with all its colors and stuff. try and determine the POD and all that other goodness. I apoloagize for the big white space and some of the graphic work as photo edititing is a new experience for me.

There are somethings with the map that might be confusing. Cuba is divided into two states. The Upper Penisula to the Mississippi its own state. In Mexico the central states are the same as they where in OTL. The map is just simplified. I think other than that it's fine.

Exactly how could Canada survive without access to the Atlantic Ocean? Wouldn't it just be gobbled up by the United States?

And here is my thoughts...

Kingdom of the Yucatan
After Mexico's loss in the Mexican-American War, the Yucatan Peninsula broke away, and decided to invite a European royal family to become monarch. It has been relatively stable lately.

Federal Empire of Mexico
In this timeline, Cuba revolted along with Mexico, which surprisingly produced very few butterflies. Much later, after Mexico's loss of it's northern territories, it was easy pickings for the French Empire to establish a Habsburg prince there as Emperor. In this timeline, he read the books about Mexico he was given, and has been much more popular among the mexicans.

United States of America
Basically, a much more expansive version of the United States. It took much more of Mexico, including Mexican Cuba. Later, when Canadian Confederation talks broke down, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and later New Brunswick decided to join the United States.

Republique Quebecois
The Quebecan Republic (officialy known as "Republique Quebecois") was established after the Canadian Civil War, and is thus very young. When Canadian Confederation talks broke down, Lower Canada took matters into it's own hands, and declared independence. The Canadian Civil War resulted in the Treaty of Vienna, which gave the new Republic much territory. Quebec had occupied Newfoundland Colony after the war, and has refused to give it back, even though the Treaty of Vienna denies Newfoundland any land. The country is currently eyeing the French-speaking parts of New Brunswick, which is one of the reasons New Brunswick joined the United States.

Union of Canadian Socialist Republics
Cut off from the Atlantic by Independant Quebec and thus cut off from Britain, Canada recieved a reluctant indepednece and didn't know what to do with it. The country turned to the ideas of a German thinker, Karl Marx. The Canadian Communist Party has a majority of seats in the House of Commons, though elections have been suspended. Recently it annexed British Columbia, and renamed it "Columbian CSR"

Yes, the UCSR is probably very unlikely, but you did say "Crazy" North America.. and attached is the UCSR flag..

Nice POD. Like the flag--did you make that or find it somewhere?

Some sort of evil US goes conquering dealie, I'd guess either the red or the pink is some sort of US satalite state. I doubt a Quebec republic would have Newfoundland.
