Challenge: The Polish-Lithuanian-Ruthenian Commonwealth

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to create a Polish-Lithuanian-Ruthenian Commonwealth by the present day with a POD no earlier than the January Uprising.

When was the January Uprising? Was that the 1863 revolt?

Edit - never mind. I just looked it up.

Antanas speaks the truth - 1863 is at least two hundred years too late for a POD. We need one from before the Great Northern War (1700-1718).

Well, the Weimar era Polish state had a significant Ukranian minority. All it needs is for a union with Lithuania(almost happened OTL), and to do better against the Sovietsalmost happened OTL). Of course the obvious title is the P-L commonwealth, but they also have a very large "Ruthenian" population (in addition to OTL 1920 territories west Belarus, NW Ukraine, Ruthenian Czechslovakia etc.) which demands recognition.

None of which needs a POD earlier then 1914
:)

In 1918- 1920 and in 1939-44 ukaunians killed thousands poles , and poles killed many ukrainians. And you are talking abut union. We need POD in 17 century with Chmelnicki and king John Casimir of Poland

Probably even a little earlier, before election of John Casimier. King Władysław IV, JC's predecessor, was commonly respected by Cossacks. If he had lived a little longer and manage to convince Polish-Lithuanian Sejm to enforce Cossacks' rights, perhaps together with some nice, Turkish invasion (repelled with Cossack help) it might have been possible to make Cossack leaders noblemen (some of them were noblemen anyway), make Cossack register bigger nad give Cossack hetman the same position Polish and Lithuanians hetmans had. Polish-Ruthenian magnats would have been furious, so we have to discredit them. Perhaps some failed assassination or kindnapping attempt on the king?
So, Poles and Cossacks, insted of slaughtering each other, fight together first against Turks, then against magnats' mutiny, led by Jeremi WIsniowiecki. Assuming royal forces had won, king's position is very strong, the Commonwealth is not so seriously weakened, and able to succesfully repell Russian and then Swedish invasion.
