1991 Prime Minister assasinated

On 7th february 1991 the IRA hit downing street with a mortar fired from the back of a white van. Though there were no casualties Prime Minister John Major and several senior cabinet ministers were rumoured to have been in the room targeted and would surely have died had the mortar been fired more accurately. Major is credited as being one of the main reasons for the peace process success in northern ireland, what would have happened had he been killed that day?

Thatcher resumes Conservative leadership and Premiership. Is reelected in 1992 by more than in OTL.

There would be more repressive anti terror measures- possibly including an attempt to reintroduce the death Penalty.

Afte 1992 she would do much as Major did- except in Ireland and perhaps on Europe.

She would lose the 1997 election by even more than Major and probably lose her own seat
