Venom(ii)
or, Eddie Brock
Known as the more "tamer" of the Venoms that populate the super-villain society, Eddie Brock was a very well known athlete, excelling at both football and basketball. It was of the former that he managed to gain a full ride to NYU, becoming the head quarterback, and noted runner for the Heisman Trophy. His athletic career was also matched by his academics, specializing in biology, and other sciences.
The one incident that changed his life forever came from a crime spree as orchestrated by the Green Goblin (later to be revealed as the criminally insane Norman Osbourne, late of Osbourne Technologies). It has been said that at that moment, Eddie Brock was pursuing the line of being a professional football player when Gwen Stacey, a noted science major at Empire State University (and applicant to the Stark Technologies, America), was abducted off the streets. Seeing that no available super hero was there, Eddie Brock pursued the Green Goblin all the way to the Brooklyn Bridge.
Sadly, Eddie Brock did not save her in time. What Eddie Brock did accomplish in his mad attempt to save her, was to commandeer an NYPD police vehicle, smash into several cars, and got arrested for his deed. The aftermath of his deed was catastrophic, for when Eddie Brock was arraigned, he went on an infamous rant in public about the ineptitude of the NYPD.
This immediately tanked Eddie Brock's career and it was only by the saving grace of his academic coach that he managed to graduate.
It was only later that Eddie Brock managed to resurface within New York City as the infamous Venom, most noted for his brazen attacks on anything remotely connected to Osbourne Technologies. These attacks were suspect due to the use of Stark Industrial weapons, an accusation thwarted by the CEO of the said company, and even put down by their participation with law enforcement in defeating Venom (ii).
Venom (ii) was defeated in one of the more major battles to erupt on the New York City skyline through a coalition of S.H.I.E.L.D, the NYPD, the FBI, and Stark Industries, America. Venom (ii) was instrumental in the creation of the first incarnation of the Sinister Six, an organization that had previously focused on Osbourne Technologies and later adapted to a more freelance nature (i.e. their "alliance" with Daredevil, the January Park Battle with Doctor Octopus, and the noted Wrecking Crew hijackings). During his sentencing, Eddie Brock made a passionate speech (often assumed as another of his rants, as proven by his manifestos left in his earlier attacks on Osbourne Technologies, letters to the New York Bugle, and pirate broadcasts on various city stations) about how his sentence should be light compared to the rest of the super villains.
Sadly, Venom (ii) was sentenced to life in prison, due to the many casualties inflicted within his abortive illegal career. Within his third year of incarceration, Eddie Brock was involved in several riots, and was thrown in solitary. On the second day of his punishment, a guard checked up on him, and found him dead. The prison staff did examine his body and reported that somehow he had run afoul of either Daredevil or the Kingpin (it is not clear on which he had angered). He was promptly buried by those that remembered him as an honest fellow and of a promise wasted.
Update:
In reflection of Venom (iii)'s recent activity involving USAgent and Spiderman (Agent of SHIELD), it should be noted that Eddie Brock DID NOT adorn himself in a full black costume (bodysuit?) with white eyes and a brace of shark teeth. Venom the Second's costume and habits can be classified thusly;
1) His costume was of red, black, and of a quarterback's "uniform" (i.e. braces, shoulder pads, etc). He only wore goggles.
2) That he was quite brazen in his attacks and could have been categorized as "disgruntled" (labeled as such by Norman Osbourne himself, countered by the Stacey family before his infamous battle with the Green Goblin).
3) His attacks did not involve brutal attacks involving claws, teeth, and
electronics.
4) In his later years, Venom the Second played a sub-standard role within the Sinister Six due to internal group conflict, and always had the tendency to point out that they were there for "the people not of our base greed".
