About member's backgrounds
Just curious. It seems alot of people here know quite about of history, even alot of different wars, political figures and movements, or just some cultural backgrounds of nation-states. I was just wondering who here actually works with history or has a degree in history. Are there any professors, researchers, archivists, etc?

I do not think there are many of those (professors, researchers, archivists, etc)
Most members here just have a more genuine interest in history than the general population ![]()

I dunno - we've got several lecturers and teachers (current and retired) on here. Though their qualifications don't necessarily match the topics they generally post AH on. I've got a Masters in Ancient History, for example, but I'm far more interested by dreadnoughts.

I have a bachelor's in history. Mind you I've learned as much here as I have in university.

My uni majors were History, Strategic Studies and International Relations, but my info comes from my desperate hate of reality TV. I read for many hours a week for entertainment, at the moment I'm perusing 'The Medieval Sourcebook'. What the study did was show me that history often swings on the decisions of a small number of key people, and their other possible choices in the same situations led me to AH.

I think Leo is our only serious, professional scholar. Some others have graduate degrees and/or work in the field but I think he is the only one who both is a recognized authority and makes his living at it.
I could be wrong and apologize if I am. |
