Kennedy saves Kopechne
What if he does not let here drown at Chappaquiddick? Does he win in '72? If so, what is his term like?

Even if he doesnt let her drown he was still driving drunk, which would be terribley hard to overcome. His adversaries would just blabber about the girl's near death rather than her demise.

Well, it may not make much difference in the immediate term, but I think it would leave him less weak in the long run.
hmmm...I thought I had more to say than that, lol Grey Wolf |

If he could be a drunk driver leading to a girl being killed in a car crash and still become a senator, I suspect his 'heroic rescue' would lead to near sainthood. Maybe he wouldn't win in '72, but perhaps in '76.
Which leads to an interesting point - a pro-IRA President of the USA during the worst of the 'troubles'. How would UK-US relations be altered ? |

I seriously do not think continued conflict ever gets anywhere when it has to be resolved by peace in the end Who would have been Ted's VP ? Hardly Carter, unless its a North-South thing and he can bring in the South. Grey Wolf |
