One fewer example for Eurosceptics to use as a country doing well outside the EU. Possibly some more heat over the common fisheries policy due to the whaling question. My guess is that, like Sweden and Denmark, Norway would not join the euro even if it joined the EU.

If this issue was solved, could it lead to Iceland and the Faroes joining later? They had the same objections, IIRC.
Trouble is, the eurosceptics' example of Norway as prospering outside of the EU is pretty weak.
They have oodles of oil and other resources, a small population and are, in any case, bound by an awful lot of EU regulation - if they want to trade with EU nations - except that they have no say about it because they are outside the tent, pissing in.

If Norway would join Iceland would economically speaking be forced to join and vice versa. This is because if either joins they gain an advantage towards the other in trading with seaproducts and basicly both countries economies depend on it. Same goes for Faero islands.
