NOBODY expects......

Largely inspired by the Bishop who had said that Kerry should be denied communion as a supporter of abortion.

WI the Pope brought back the Inquisition? Technically he could. WI a Jesuit was in Church this Sunday, demanding that all parishioners sign statements condemning abortion and candidates who support it on pain of excommnunication. WI that's not enough but he demands to see the private financial records of suspect parishioners, again on pain of excommunication. When Kerry wins in your district he returns, this time demanding to see the interior of his parishioner's houses and even their computer's hard drives. Again, I see no reason an Inquisitor could not do this if assigned to by an infallible "Vicar of Christ"

Basically, the question I'm asking is this: how much will Catholics take before they tell their Pope to place his Church where the sun don't shine in massive enough numbers that he will have to listen or contemplate renting out St Peters as a bingo hall.

Btw I was born Catholic and went to Catholic School from 4 to 10th grade. I credit this with making me the lifelong atheist I have been since the 4th grade.

Well,

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...ope_women_dc_4

the modern Papal doctrine on women

I don't know if all Catholics believe all this stuff, I assume they like Kerry make their own decisions based on their own intelligence and don't just think the way that the Pope, or the local bishop, wants them to

But then again, I have been wrong about Americans before, lol

The Catholic Church doesn't have much pull in the US, as the majority of Christian Americans are Protestant.

Not necessary. We're jut going to have to reapply some of the laws from nearly a century ago. A yes, and repeal concordat, also.

Now there’s a TL I’d like to see - the Vatican burnt down and the ground salted.

Ahem, anyway, stepping away from the obvious disdain for mortals whom seem to think they know the mind of the gods I do have this to ask. If there were to be a liberal schism where do you think the most likely epicenter would be?

Certainly not the States, though the 50-50 split that seems to be occurring is promising.

Of course, about two weeks after ordering this, the Pope could have a convenient "stroke", a quick burial with no autopsy, and the new guy could order the whole thing halted.

(Yes, I know the cardinals don't whack popes like it's 1275 AD, but given the right circumstances, things could happen...)

The really heavy ones about separation of church and state passed in 1902-1908, which included complete civilian ( for want of a better word ) control of church properties and several anti-chirch measures ( including the banning of eclesiatic clothes on some city territory ).

For how much longer?

New statistics on religious diversity show the USA's historic Protestant majority has plummeted to 52%, and by the end of 2004 it may no longer be the nation's dominant religious group.
