South Carolina Rebellion
It is 1860 and South Carolina seccedes after the election, then the state militia tries a take over of Fort Sumter.
The rest of the South, horrified that South Carolina actually FIRED on the North (seceed they can agree with, but they want a peaceful seperation if it possible, military action only if neccessary) change their mind about secession and decide to "give that dammyankee Lincoln a chance rather than start a war against our own brothers" (General Jackson, 1861) and either don't pass a secession resolution or even attempt one What happens and how does this affect American history |

a shorter civil war, a gradual end of slavery, but the US Army and Navy would be smaller and the nation would be less centralized which occured during the war.
