I feel like writing a TL...

But I have no ideas... And I don't feel like working on my current ongoing TLs (all 1,242,526,131,897 of them!)... Does anyone have any ideas for me? I'd prefer something pre-1900, even better pre-French Revolution.

I posted this here because I wasn't sure if it was spam or not- so at least in this forum, people can't accuse me of just trying to raise my post count, as posts don't count in here.

just some thoughts...
* George Washington accompanies his friend Arnold into British service. (would he fight the Rebels, or would Washington ask to be transferred to another part of the Empire?)

* Vlad Tsepish(sp) (aka Dracula - "son of the Dragon") fights against the Hungarians or another of his northern neighbors.

* Rome without Nero.

* If one of the Mad Emperors of the Roman Empire had adopted Christianity, how badly would that tarnish the reputation of the faith?

need more ideas? *curious*

I'm always happy to help.

Possibly... though, I don't know... I used to know a lot about the Emperors of that time, but forgot most of it.

Would Washington do this though? Hm, this could be one way to get a Republic of New England surrounded by British North America.

This is probably my favorite of these ideas, though I don't know if it's plausible- wasn't the reason he was known as the "Son of the Dragon" was because he belonged to the Dragon Order, which was led by Hungary? Also, we either have to get the Turks out of the picture, or have them ally with Vlad...

I can think of some interesting consequences, though I'd have to read up on ancient Rome... and there's all the fun of an antiquity TL that you can have later on, especially with migrations (see the Coronation of the Hun and to a much lesser extent Seleucid Triumph)

I imagine its possible, given that even Washington came to become irritated with the politics and infighting of the Continental Congress...add to that his and his troops' depressions and hardships (ie, Valley Forge*), and George might go the way of his good friend Bennedict.

* = what provided a pre-battle morale boost there, was a visit by Martha Washington, who tended to the sick soldiers.

He was "son of the Dragon" because his father's nickname (or name) was Dracul -- "the Dragon".

True... have some even worse situations in the Continential Congress, further hurting his troops morale, and Washington could do it...

Ah yes- and his father got that name from the Order of the Dragon. Though, the Order of the Dragon was basically gone by this time... Hm, Vlad started out as a Turkish puppet ruler in his first reign, but in his second reign turned against the Turks and allied with Hungary... maybe there is some possibility here.

I'd like to see a timeline that has a Gothic Egypt/Levant/Anatolia.

What about a surviving Romano-British state where the Saxons fail to gain any real footholds for any length of time.

Britannia mk. 2 had a large Romano-British state, though the Saxons did have a large area as well...

Hm, a Gothic Byzantine Empire essentially? (Possibly arising from an even worse post-Adrianople) I wonder if the Goths could do something akin to what the Turks did in Anatolia, but I know nothing about the Goths other than a few minor factoids about Visigothic Spania... Maybe, I'll have to look into it.

Hm, did you read Robert's Tawantinsuya TL, with Benedict Arnold becoming first king of the US?

I'm surprised you managed to read that without tearing your eyes out from Robert's less than fundamentalist approach to butterflies

Hey, *I* indeed prefer to write TLs with butterflies. This doesn't mean I demand from everone to write that way.

Ideas?

How about, say, the Holy Aksumite Empire, which spans across much of East Africa and the southern Arabian Peninsula, and is bears a certain resemblance to the Holy Roman Empire (you know, elected emperor, empire is divided into a lot of different kingdoms and principalities...)?

Or perhaps something more unusual, like a pre-viking Celtic colony in America?
