Date & Time on Posts

I approve of the new date/time stamping of posts. Much better than '1 week ago', '1 month ago', etc.

I disagree. Is there any way to make it a user option?

No, it is a board-wide option. I got tired of looking at older posts and not being able to see what actual date they were posted on (since it went to "1 week ago" etc).

I, for one, welcome our new accurate date and time overlords.

Oh sure--we welcome them--then they turn on us and then comes the screaming, the yelling, the weeping....

This is great. I asked Ian if he could tell me the time and date for some posts so i could add stuff to the wiki. I'm glad you feel the same as I do Ian. Thanks.

Same here.
Or to paraphrase: "OMG CONFOOZING HED EXPLODE ;O;"

Could the date/time display settings be made editable in the profile, like in, say, phpBB?

Okay, so I'm making this post at 2.51pm.

EDIT: Ian, your clock is a minute out!

Sorry I can't do 24 hour time unless it's for the entire board.

I really like it for the older posts, it's much more accurate. But for recent posts I think it actually makes it less accessible.

I mean, when you log on after a few hours break, it's easier to quickly determine which posts you haven't read if they're marked 'posted 1 hour ago, 2 hours ago' etc.

Reading the date and time, you then have to do a little mental calculation to determine if you need to read the post. It's just an extra second or two of thinking, that before used to be almost intuitive.

@Kit: Why not just look up at the upper right-hand corner under 'Welcome, Kit.' It should give you the exact time you were last logged on. So just read everything that was posted after that time.

I like the new system.

Oh there's already a thread.

I prefer the old way.
Much better for seeing if there's a new reply- you could do it in milliseconds with 'oh there was one 1 minute ago' rather then having to cross referance it with the time.
