After the Democratic victory in 1976, the old donkey symbol was exceeded and was created a contest to elect a new Democratic flag for the 1978 Elections. The Humphrey Flag (name adopted after the death of former VP Hubert Humphrey), was designed by senator Robert Byrd received the first Roosevelt Award for those who contributed to the Democratic Party. The Party's flag was made official as the official symbol in 29 May 1978 by the chairman of the DNC John C. White.
2: Democratic Party said:I have no backstory for this beyond the Democrats adopting a flag
3: Green Party said:Here's the flag of the US Green Party.
Rainbow represents equality for all people.
Sun represents the brightness that shines over the nation.
Red is the traditional socialist color. The sun is red to thank the hard work of US citizens, keeping the country moving.
The green tree represents Nature.
And fifty white stars for Peace and Harmony in all states.
4: Libertarian Party said:I have no real background story for this beyond the Libertarians adopting a flag.
Libertarian flag: Light of Liberty
5: Libertarian Party said:In 1972, the "Libersign”, an arrow angling upward through the abbreviation "TANSTAAFL" (There ain't no such thing as a free lunch), was adopted as the Libertarian party symbol. Eventually, some came to see the symbol as being unattractive, in order to promote their party more and attract more members a new symbol was sought. By 1980, the use of Paul Revere on his ride became the most common symbol used by various state affiliates. In 1982 an official flag was designed and was displayed prominently up to the 1984 presidential elections garnering them 7% of the vote, their largest up to that date.
While still not having anyone elected to the office of POTUS to this date, the Libertarian party has become a viable third party over the decades. They current hold 15 seats in the Senate and 47 in the US House of Representatives.
