Black Sea dammed

I thought of putting this on the ASBs, but what the heck...
There seems to have been an advanced neolithic, maybe even chalcolithic culture around the Black Sea lake when the sea broke in. Could they see the danger, and built a megalithic dam to hold the sea back? If so, what would today be like?
