WI: Napoleon dies at Austerlitz

You mean 1805?! Austerlitz would be a French defeat and probably France would be devastated. Prussia and Spain could join the Third Coalition and launch a joint invasion of France from Spain, Italy and Germany at the same time. Monarchy would be restored within a year of Austerlitz

What happens if Napoleon Bonaparte was killed during the battle of Austerlitz in 1806?
You mean 1805?!

It was fought on 2nd December 1805, so you can see how some could think of it in 1806, and if the Russian and Holy Roman Empire are able to hold off the French, the war might be drawn out into the first few days of 1806.

Prussia and Spain could join the Third Coalition and launch a joint invasion of France from Spain, Italy and Germany at the same time.

As Al. B Short, stated "The Third Coalition" being the victorious side, would gain support from Prussia and Austria, not really sure about Spain. Pushing from the west, the french revolutionary army would be pinned into a corner.

Monarchy would be restored within a year of Austerlitz
Not only would the monarchy be re-enstated; you will also not have a dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire, with Emperor Francis II felling stronger then ever.
Althought would the Coalition try and find a puppet monarch to place on the french throne fearing a new revolution, with an even worse version of Napoleon

An interesting result from this POD, assuming it leads to an end of Napoleonic France would be that the Netherlands keeps the Cape Colony. It was still in Dutch hands in 1805 and without Napoleon Louis Napoleon would never become king of Holland, so the Cape Colony remains Dutch.

I wonder if the Netherlands regains Dutch Limburg and Zeelandic Flanders and if the Dutch Republic would be restored or if it remains the Batavian Republic.

Assuming the French victory is just as big, the French Empire is likely to do just fine. France has more than enough stellar generals that they can curbstomp anyone who gets uppity. Davout, Soult, Lannes, Massena, Murat and Ney (besides many others) are simply too deep a bench.

Not sure who the political leadership would be. Would the de jure emperor be his elder brother Joseph? I think the "real power" would devolve to Talleyrand as chief advisor in international affairs.

With Napoleon dead, there is a chance for a real peace in Europe. However, Britain could decide to continue the war if it felt French power was too great.

No War of 1812. No Battle of Waterloo, so it doesn't enter the English language as a synonym for epic defeat. No invasion of Russia. That's just the start of the butterflies flapping.
