The AH broke up along ethnic lines. How exactly would Germany break up? A Communist Prussia, a Fascist Bavaria, a restored Hanoverian monarchy, and a rump republic in the west along the Rhine?

The German Empire was a federation of principalities, duchies, grand duchies, and kingdoms. There are some obvious lines, but you'd have to find a way to co-opt the German princes to going against Prussia, find out what to do with Prussia, and many German states were just too small...

Makes an authentic civil war happens in 1919-1920 between communists and the army and FreiKorps, so the allies intervenes and France creates the Rhineland Republic.

Chaos resulting and with poles and allies fithting against soviets in Russia, the french makes some interesting changes with diplomatic pressures (at the end if one army in Europe apart poles and some german guys could stop the Red Army is french so in exchange of this well Clemençau wants some things):

Germany 1924 (One year after the end of the Soviet War and the peace between the allies and the soviets):

-Germany Republic controlled by the Zentrum.

-Rhineland Republic: a puppet of France (contested by protests from german population and from Germany republic)

-Bavaria: a stronghold of the extreme right after this fails in a coup d´etat against the Zentrum during the chaos of the times of the Soviet War, the partidaries of the coup flees to Bavaria where the regional government supports them and proclaims a Bavaria Republic.

-Prusia: In the chaos of the Soviet War and the civil unrest and combats in Germany Von der Golz commander of the FreiKorps that fight with the allies against the soviets got the power in Prussia. He leads Prussia with a strong iron hand.

The chaos of the civil war provokes human tragedies, some caused by bad luck like in the case of a man figting against the soviets wound in a wood in the combats he was attacked and eat by wild hungry boars, his name was err. Adolf Hinckel or Hiter or Hitler, I am not remember well, i read this in a book about the times of the soviet war (an anecdote illustrating the chaos of this times)
