United US Law enforcement
In OTL There are, as far as I can think, at least 5 law enforcment agencies of the US Federal Government, ATF, DEA, FBI, The Federal Marshal's Service and the Secret Service.
If these were one body would the consequence be a) More efficient law enforcement and a greater feeling of security or b) Much greater denial of Civil Rights. I guess had such a thing happened before 1970 much would depend on whether J E Hoover had a major role or not. |

Actually, IIRC, there's more upwards of sixty branches of the U.S. federal government with law enforcement abilities.

As much as my leanings are occasionally libertarian, many of these policing agencies serve unique and differing functions.

The Park Rangers that guard national parks, monuments, and forests are law enforcement officers as well. They carry guns, and have police cars. But their primary areas of responsibility are guarding national parks and whatnot.
The Tennessee Valley Authority, or TVA, which is or was a federal project has its own police force, equipped with everything that a normal police department has. |
