2: The Republic of Caroline (République de Caroline).
Caroline is a country in the southeastern region of America, consisting of the five regions of Nouvelle-Angoulême, Calvinie, Nouveau-Palatinat, Mississippi and Appalaches. Caroline is bordered by the Northern Appalachians and Cartier River (Hudson River OTL) to the north, by the Atlantic Ocean to the east, by the Caribbean Sea to the south and by the Mississippi River to the west.

It is one of the first religious settlement in America. Indeed, Huguenot from France, Palatinate, Belgium and Switzerland first settled in Caroline in 1555, to found La-Nouvelle-Angoulême colony. Then, the German pilgrims settled south of the French, forming New Heidelberg. In the late 18th century, Caroline was the heart of the resistance against the policy of the French crown, welcoming not only religious persecuted but also thinkers of the Enlightenment. The colony declared independence in 1799 during the event of the French Revolution, forming the Republic of Caroline. During the 19th century, the country was divided concerning the slave question, the economy of the country being based on the cotton production. The problem was solved with the abolition of slavery in 1877 under pressure from the European countries. The country enjoyed also large immigration from protestant countries which permitted to increase Caroline's population fourfold between 1800 and 1900. From the Carolinian intervention in St. Thomas (English Santo Domingo) in 1901, the Caroline Republic appeared as one of the main power of the American continent, having the Caribbean, Central America and Northern South America as his “backyard”.

Originally dependent on fishing, agriculture and cotton production, Caroline was transformed into a manufacturing center during the Industrial Revolution. During the 20th century, Caroline's economy switched from manufacturing to services. In the 21st century, Caroline is a leader in higher education, high technology, and financial services.

3: Occidentalia
15nop6o.png

1515 – Town of New London established on banks of the river Orinoco
1520 onwards – expansion of English control throughout South America
1601 – Union of the Catholic nations of England and the Netherlands following the religious wars of Europe (1577-1599) – the United Kingdom of England & the Netherlands, Verenigd Koninkrijk Engeland en Nederland (UKEN/VKEN)
1805 – Unrest in the southern colonies of Iacobia, Willemia, New Wales, Janland, New Friesland, Mariana, Vulkaania, Ahsuetier and New Essex led to an armed uprising against the crown. Independence for those colonies was achieved via the Treaty of Lisbon (1809). The former colonies formed the United Republics of America (1813), although by that time the northern part of Mariana had broken away to become the independent republic of Cooksland.
1839 – The Colony of Occidentalia was formed by the joining together of 12 existing colonies in the north of the continent.
1898 – UKEN granted ‘Dominion’ status to a number of colonies, including Occidentalia.
1911-1916 – Great European War – Occidentalia fought on the side of the Compact nations. The widespread use of chemical and biological weapons rendered much of western and central Europe virtually uninhabitable. Major members of the UKEN royal family relocated to Occidentalia between 1914-1915.
1951 – First ever Moon landing. Launched from Occidentalia’s spaceport facility at Evenaaria, the 3 crew members (Bobby Oxspring, Neeltje Armsterke and Terrence Milligan) spent 5 days on the moon before returning safely to Earth.
1998 - On the centenary of Dominion status and following a referendum (held in 1997), Occidentalia became a republic. The last monarch, Anne-Margriet II, was given the ceremonial post of President for life, following which Presidents would be chosen by the Senate.

The flag of the Republic of Occidentalia remains the same as that of when it was a Dominion – the flag of the UKEN top left with a representation of the ‘Southern Cross’ on a green field. A proposal for adopting a new flag was rejected in the referendum of 1997.

4: Republic of Transandesia
The Republic of Transandesia, as its name suggests, lies between the Andes mountain range and the Pacific Ocean. For centuries it was part of English South America before gaining its independence in 1872, following the revolution in England and the abolition of that country’s monarchy.

The flag of Transandesia has red and green horizontal stripes, signifying its settlement mainly by English and Irish immigrants. The emblem in its central, broad, white stripe represents the goddess Ariadne with a black panther. This emblem was chosen because of the legendary black panther said to roam the mountains and because of the number of labyrinths of unexplained origin discovered along the Pacific Coast.
