Alternate/Unbuilt classical architecture.

I like architecture. I like classical architecture, really anything built before the 50's. This is an alterante history forum, so its time to post alternate/unbuilt classical architecture. Feel free to join in and add your own. Some of these buildings may have been built and were either later torn down or modified greatly.

1920 Canadian War Memorial submission. I am finding competition submissions are a great place to find "what if" stuff.

These are just...magnificent...

Yeah Ive been drinking in a lot of art like this for a potential project I have planned. I am trying to find the more obscure stuff, not the same old Albert Speer stuff that gets posted a lot.

Universal Exposition in Paris. Torn down shortly after being built because it was temporary, made out of wood most likely and probably didn't look as nice up close and personal.

Unrealized Grand Central Station plan. Looks a lot more grand and/or central.

Found this amazing plan of St. Petersburg, I don't think the city ever received these defenses. They seem impractical though, why not fortify the whole island instead of using this oval shape?

Possible development in Vienna.

Burnhams plan was amazing. I know I poured over it for a while. He also did some cool ideas for San Francisco. Hes up there with Baron Haussman for people I would love to give a couple million acres to and say "go nuts".

Probably not actually. You want the defences on the island to be as strong as those on the mainland (else there's no point in building any of them with such a huge weak point in the circuit), and the oval is based on field of fire for cannons. That size oval appears to be the one which maximises the amount of enclosed space on the island while still having narrow enough river crossings that they could be defended.

It never was built though.
