As the title says. What would happen if a massive coronal mass ejection hit the Earth, and then, while all power and communications were down, a powerful (Cat. 4-5) hurricane hit the US at that intensity?
Also, what's with the red font?
Hmmm... More Category 5 hurricanes, bankrupt the US, wipe out Congress, hit the US with a CME and a hurricane... On a bit of a Mad Max kick, are we?

A CME would'nt knock out all power, in a worst case scenario resulting from a combination of overuse, old grids and a cascade effect it would only knockout power to a specifc area, at worst you'll see something like the 2003 Northeast Blackout, but not much worse.
Have it knock out power in the Southeastern United States. That should take out TCWC Miami.A CME would'nt knock out all power, in a worst case scenario resulting from a combination of overuse, old grids and a cascade effect it would only knockout power to a specifc area, at worst you'll see something like the 2003 Northeast Blackout, but not much worse.
Bump bump bump...
How would they project the path of the hurricane if the weather sats and TCWC Miami have both been taken offline by the coronal mass ejection?FEMA, the National Guard + state and local law enforcement personnel in the projected path of the hurricane will respond quickly to assist people to secure their property and to evacuate (which folks might be more eager to do since the power is already out).
