Loved it overall--found some of the books to be really dumb, plot wise (the whole illuminati stuff with Fortunato, for example) but other parts downright brilliant (especially the first book--it had that nice 'sweeping history' thing going with it, covering 40 years of the wild card universe)

I read the first book and liked it, though I felt they stuck WAAAAAY too close to OTL history (well, apart from the supers). I didn't like it quite well enough to try and track down the rest of the series; since they're being reprinted maybe I'll give the whole thing a read.
I really enjoyed the plot-line with the gov't-sponsored super team falling victim to internal dissent and McCarthyism. Also liked the kid who 'molted' into a new super-power every few weeks. |

It's like all shared universe series- some bits were massively better than others. The first book was easily the best. I believe they're coming out as trade paperbacks. And there was a GURPS volume on the theme.
