DBWI - what if the Jewish Crusade had failed?
As the medieval nation of Khazaria was staggering towards oblivion, one of its kings raised the call for a crusade -- composed of Jews.
but what if something unlikely had happened?: what if the crusade had failed? my best guess, if the king fails to even approach Jerusalem, then there won't be crowning himself in the city, won't declare that he is the new Israel....and no nation there means no messianic fervor sweeps Eurasia's Jewry -- and while its good that there won't be an upsurge in pogroms, its sad that the more missionary ("convert 'em all") denomination of Judaism won't arise. *sigh* can't win 'em all, I suppose. (yes, this is a double-bind--what-if; did I do well?) |

Seems if this Crusade failed, there would be more Jews in Europe, hell more Jews in the world period. This move killed any tolerance in the Seljuk Turk caliphate and in the Catholic powers of Europe. Heck, it delayed the Spanish Reconquista as Moorish tafia and Christian prince went "Jew hunting" together! the other side of this is that the Jewish people have their own nation, 13 million strong, and after the defeat of Richard the "Dragonhearted" and Philip of France in the Catholic Crusade, no one will mess with the Messianic Army in the Levant. But I wonder if the Kingdom of Mecca and the Saladinan Caliphate will really attack the Jewish Kingdom, we saw what happened when the Osmali Sultans and the Dukes of Byzantine-Athens tried that back in '67......
