Popular music will be very different much sooner. Clarinets and Trombones might take the Saxophone's place in many styles until some other new, chic instrument with a nice, wide range eventually supplants them.

Like what happened with the Saxophone being supplanted by the Electric Guitar, and the Electric guitar being replaced in turn by the Synthesizer.
