Uber-Nationalism

Me and friend had a long disscussion about this. This wasnt meant seriously, but its intresting. What if all the groups of people that have wanted independance over the years (And im talking evrybody reasonable) got it and managed to keep it? Kurdistan? Kashmir? Caucauses? Scotland? CSA? Qubec? Lots of possibilites. One of the big things is limited or more specialised economic growth. Oh, and im not averse to unions, like the EU, to safeguard small nations limberties. Please Discuss.

Basically, Its the opposite of all those super imperialism threads.

The world would be much more war-torn than it is now and the standard of living might also be lower (nations would be greatly weakened by being carved up).

The first thing is that most of them would join together in regionally based economic unions, either that or we have instant depression, as most present economies would collapse if cut off from globalization.

A major problem is what to do with places like Chechnya, where the map shows purple (whosits,) red (whoshewhats) and blue (Lutherans) completely crosshatched over each other. They, of course, have also despised each other since before the Scythians and give their girls an AK-47 on their fourth birthday so as to protect baby brother, who will be a suicide assassin.

If you said reasonable, then why include the CSA?

Also, you assume that independent areas will stay as such, id est Vermont and Texas?

I included CSA because there are so many "CSA survives" timelines, that i thought it be easy. And yes, i include Vermont and Texas in that list of places that have been independant. When we disscussing this, we ran into trouble when it came to places like Mexico. Mexican, Spanish, or Aztec? It depends whether you include modern nations, or more traditional ones.
