A victorious 1837 Rebellion?

Rereading about a key point of canadian history, I wondered about Les Patriotes de 1837. How could the Rebellion have been victorious against the Men of Her Majesty, by example, if the clergy MASSIVELY went behind it? What would be the consequences localy and globaly? What kind of governement they would have made?

Bonus points if the Upper Canada side was also victorious.

That's a good question. I'm not that well versed in that period of Canadian history, but I imagine that a possible outcome would be Upper Canada gaining Dominion status early and Lower Canada severing its ties with Britain.

I'd imagine this depends on the state of Britian...In Plethora of Princes Great Britian had just gone through a civil war...the Canadas were granted Dominion Status (Sperately) whne the USA wouldn't let GB interfer, and with a radical goverment in GB they let them become dominions, and later became indepent nation...settled by more English Radicals.

Only Rupert's land remained British...

well if it is only LC that is successful then I suppose you could get earlier Dominion Status or possibly a republic in the case of LC...though in truth I thought I read somewhere, that the Quebecois had come to like the Br. parliamentary system even if they did see themselves as a separate identity. so perhaps earlier Dominions all around
Upper and Lower. UC buys Rptld earlier perhaps and the Maritimes opt for a Maritime Union of their own to lead to their own Dominion ( Acadia...or perhaps...British Acadia).
