Quebec Revolutionary War Question

Yes, its another one of those Thirteen Colonies get Quebec during the American Revolution threads....but with a twist.

This is actually inspired by reading Glen's Dominion of Southern America, and i think by one of the responses to a question that in a similar thread to this being the South gaining its freedom and the North remaining under British control, and i was told that the British abandoned the North during the ARW to focus on gaining control of the south...

So my question is thus...

If the Quebec campaign succeeds, doesn't matter how, but it succeeds, and the Continentals gain control of Quebec/OTL Canadian regions, does this mean they can lose control of the south and focus their attention on the north as a whole, with the British focusing their power into the south?

It's a simple swap, basically. Gaining Quebec/OTL Canadian regions for losing North/South Carolina and Georgia?

Is this possible

I question why doesn't Quebec go it alone after throwing out the British?

Or even invite the French back in.

That is a less likely proposition unless they were on the verge of being killed off by the Anglos. The Canadiens were notorious for having a independent streak as wide as the Americans, maybe wider considering they merged much more successfully with the Native Americans.

Thinking on that, does anyone have any sources for Canadien reactions to France joining the American Rev. War? Not seeking to drive off the British following the war is interesting.
