The writing style kind of reminds of Steven King in an odd way. I think it is the adjectives.

I must admit I've never read anything by King.

Ironically - since I'm sure someone will point out the similarities to it - I've also never read the Axis of Time trilogy.

The pace of writing is up again after the recent slump due to someone close dying. The map is coming along nicely, too. Some of the key chains have been sent, but there seems to be some kind of hick-up with the iron cross ones (you were among those who selected that one right)?
