Yes. I have concluded that the Republicans are utterly irrelevant now, and that the Greens are the Left-Wing Party, and the Democrats, the Right-Wing.

Nice. Are there going to be some more left-wing OTL Dems in the Green Party?

Yeah, possibly. Schweitzer's one of the last centrist Democratic presidential nominations. And I'm planning on a Republican revival, since they're libertarian now.

And, there will be an United States Independence Party, which will pick up the last few surviving conservatives. Abhakhazia will probably vote for them.

Generally...

Thanks.

The good Reverend isn't my original character, but he was somewhat underused in his original work, so I decided that I'd try and expand upon him a bit.

Yeah, Brown is far better prepared for his campaign ITTL, making him far more controversial than he is in our world when he finally acts.

Independence from socialism, yep. The UN as well. They're the Republicans at present, but only more wackier and insaner.

The Sons and Daughters of Liberty

An Introduction

This quote, from a debate with Democratic nominee Polk in Alexandria, Virginia in June of 1840, is considered the deciding speech of Birney's campaign.
It is also a fairly accurate description of the United States of America.

For generation upon generation, America has always stood for liberty. The first was the War of 1804, the first war, when Adam's legions of republicans from the fledgeling states, fought the heroic battles of St. Louis, New Orleans and Port-aux-Prince for the cause of liberty and equality.
When the south seceded, and the War of the South began under the banning of slavery under Frémont and Lincoln's presidency, where again soldiers of liberty fought for victory. From then on, when America was there liberty was sure to follow. The liberation of Cuba, today a US commonwealth to be admitted into the union with Puerto Rico on July 4th of next year, as well as Theodore Roosevelt's brillant observance of how the 3rd Balkan War could spread worldwide, and brokered it to an end.
And finally the African Wars, a failure, yes, but with the best intentions.

Though, we must say, Birney can be wrong. Sometimes, liberty doesn't come with hypocrisy. The horrible disaster that was the independence of the Phillippines. The slaughter of millions in the Japanese invasion of 1920. There were also some horrors committed against British and German forces in central Africa, during the cold war of the imperialists and the progressives.

Our story will outline the history of America, her progressive days, her corrupt days, her horrid days and even her gilded days.

Starting with the Age of Adams, on to the Cry of Liberty, entrenching into The War of the South, on to Grant, Cooper, Garfield and Arthur, to The Age of the Worker, The Two Men Who Defined A Century: Debs and Roosevelt, the horrid pain of Sunk Under, on to The Ice, the hypocritical liberty of Hey, Hey, LBJ, How Many Kids Did You Kill Today, the corruption of As Free As They Let Us Be, leading into the today of The Broken Ice.

We will look at the lingering racism into Obama's presidency, the Green Movement and the collapse of the Republican Party to conclude.

Eh, I have a great idea on how Communism became popular enough to win states in 1928 and 1932.

I can't wait to hear it.

I want to use the wikiboxes, but I think I'll tweak 1928 and give the Communists Washington, and tweak 1860 so Bell, instead of Breckenridge comes in second (in the EV, of course)

By the way, have y'all thought about America's national personification? I'm having it be "Auntie Coraly", aka a Nat. Personification more on the lines of Marianne, then Columbia. (Aka, not used too much)

The national animal? Eh, I might make it the turkey, not the eagle.

This sort of thing is important, I'm not neglecting it.

National personification is going to be "Lady Liberty" more on the lines of Brittania than anything else.
The Bald Eagle is still going to be the national bird, because there's something wonderful about having an aircraft called the Screaming Eagles.

Why would Eisenhower dismantle it? He didn't touch many of the popular New Deal programs of FDR in OTL. Why would he even bother in TTL?

For future reference-

Cold War/War of Ice- Breaks out after the US defeats Japan in the Pacific War of 1941-1945, in which during, the Imperial Pact was formed between Britain and Germany (still under the Kaisar, uneffected by WWI)
Lasts until the July Revolution of 1986 in Germany, and Britain collapses in 1992.
The African War- British add the Congo Free State (last truly independent state in Africa) to their empire in 1963. LBJ's response is war. Goes well until 1966, when American troops are massacred at The Battle of Cape Town. Nuclear weapons barely avoided, and US casulties stack. Republicans take majority in the House in senate 1972 election is a near miss for Nixon, thanks to the war. The war ends when the US withdrawls from Kinshasha in 1973, 9 1/2 years later.
The War of 1804- Adams declares War on France towards the end of his second term. Takes Louisiana in the peace agreement. The Main POD. Inspires the concept of Americans being "the Protectors of Liberty" by liberating Haiti and Louisiana from Napoleon. Leads to a more progressive US.

Good point. Not Ike then. Well... I can throw Ford out there, but he's a liberal... Ike's the last true conservative in the position...
