Retrospective US Presidential Election: 2008

I plan to run through every US presidential election, two per week. The 28 elections from 1789-1896 will be run simultaneously with the 28 elections from 1900-2008. Be sure to vote in each election!

For 1789-1800, I will include in the poll everyone who received at least 5% of the electoral vote. From 1804-2008, I will include everyone who received at least 0.05% of the popular vote. Results for each election will be posted on the dedicated Retrospective US Presidential Election Results Thread (here) and compared to the actual results. The thread for general project discussion is here.

Here's the link to the 1896 election.

Voting for the Democrat, Barack Obama. He's the best choice here.

McCain! As long as he doesn't kick the bucket and be replaced by Loony Hockey Mom, he's the best.

Nader. The Greens picked one of the worst possible candidates they could have picked - a 9/11 truther and Qadaffi supporter.

I really hate Obama, but I don't really like McCain either. And a vote for Obama will really energize conservatives to get more politically aware. I'll wait and see what happens.....

Nader started making alliances with Ron Paul and spewing anti-immigrant nativist shit in this election, so, I suppose I'll quite unenthusiastically support the Greens. Very, very, critically.

Voted for the man I wish I could've voted for four years ago (I wasn't 18, yet); Mr. BHO.

Go get 'em, Barry.

I'm gonna be so depressed if BHO wins with over 50%...I'd hope the liberals on here would vote for someone more progressive, even if that means they vote for Nader.

Some of the Tea Party's propaganda will probably be pretty accurate at this point in the Retrospectoverse...

I might just vote for McCain. He probably won't win anyway and tactically it could mean more support for progressive proposals in the long term. And we could end up with essentially Prime Minister Pelosi. In addition, McCain was a war hero and an honourable man and in this more left-wing America he likely won't tack to the right as much to capture the far right as IOTL. And the Democrats have probably held the Presidency for too long now.
