Well, this election you have three very, very interesting choices...

Jackson, of Washington Republican Nomination President: William Proxmire, of Wisconsin Vice President: Howard Baker, of West Virginia

They're all conservative, of one variety or another. Marion Morrison is the most, Lindsay is a limousine liberal at best, and Proxmire is too fiscally conservative for my tastes. Ugh.

Hey, we need to balance out the liberal-fest of 1960 and 1964.

No, it's the Republicans that need the win. Failing that, the Socialists. The Democrats have taken the last four elections straight.

But if Proxmire is elected no American will ever walk on the moon. And Lindsay isn't tough enough to deal with the Sons of the South or the Japanese Empire. Duke Morrison all the way.

Plus Morrison was the closest movie version of the Great Theodore Roosevelt, slayer of the Limeys, ass-kicker of the Canadians, and the Reb ripper!
Of course my love for TR has ostracized me from much of my family in Georgia and Louisiana, but the man is too damn awesome not to like ![]() |

I don't really care for people who are proud white supremacists and felt that the Indians deserved what they got and that blacks were too stupid to be citizens.

Quote:
"With a lot of blacks, there's quite a bit of resentment along with their dissent, and possibly rightfully so. But we can't all of a sudden get down on our knees and turn everything over to the leadership of the blacks. I believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility. I don't believe in giving authority and positions of leadership and judgment to irresponsible people." He's saying "white supremacy" in that whites should be running things, not that they are just naturally superior to other races. He's not against blacks or giving them power, he's just against giving stupid people power. Many blacks at the time were not well educated, which wasn't there fault. But whether or not a person is not an intellectual based on there own capacity or if they simply were given a raw deal and not given a chance, either way they just shouldn't be given power immediately. "I don't feel we did wrong in taking this great country away from them, if that's what you're asking. Our so-called stealing of this country from them was just a matter of survival. There were great numbers of people who needed new land, and the Indians were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves." He's saying that what happened to the Indians was unpreventable. From day one, the Indians were pretty much going to lose; while that was morally wrong and countless crimes have been committed against them, its not really a case were there was a viable alternative. He's saying it was just inevitable, and that's life. He's not saying they deserved what happened to them. |

And for fuck's sake, let's never vote for Republicans! Even if Turquoise makes the other two parties nominate the reanimated corpses of Joe McCarthy and Al Capone!

Al Capone a Socialist? Well, he was known for distributing alcohol evenly amongst the masses.
