DBWI: Wi Thatcher Survived?

Hi all,

This is probably the most widely discussed British Political What-ifs on here, but I thought it was worth bring up again.

So, what if on October the 12th 1984, the IRA fails to assassinate Margaret Thatcher at the conservative party conference? Let's say that the Brighhton Bomb goes off as in OTL, claiming all the other casualties of that attack, besides MRS T.

So what are the political nd cultural affects of a continued Thatcher Premiership? How much longer would she remain at Downing Street? How does this affect the IRA? What are the affects on the rest of the world?

Probably no martial law in Ulster or a reimposition of internment. I was an Air Cadet at the time and having to walk past the threat level board twice a week with it showing Amber was quite unnerving. Five of the lads were pulled out by their parents over that. That was the year the council tried to cancel the rememberance day parade as an unnecessary risk. They soon changed their minds though. Having the British Legion picketing the civic centre didn't show them in a good light.
