Don't know whether this counts as AH, but.. Hitler's Daughter by Jackie French
While reading the Breaking News thread in the Alternate History After 1900 forum, I was reminded of this children's book by Jackie French, called Hitler's Daughter. The title is exactly what it says on the tin. Whenever I read it I'm struck by how Jackie French puts across the question of "What does/should a person do if someone they know is doing unspeakably horrible things?"
It's basically a story about Hitler's secret daughter within a story about modern-day school kids hearing this story from their friend. And it's very good. Has anyone else here read it? Last edited by Morwen Edhelwen; April 25th, 2012 at 03:03 AM.. |

Anyone want to discuss it? Not as in the plausibility of Hitler having a daughter nobody knew about...

well i think if hitler ever had children and they, or their kids, were alive today, they probaly wouldnt be welcome in alot of europe without changing their names...talking more realistically
anotehr thign that mightve happend is they mightve being killed thmemselves in retribution after the war (if they werent in the fuhrer bunker)...the soviets definatly wouldve put on a display like that |

I read it when I was a kid. It's actually a really good book.

ColeMercury, I'm 18 and would have to agree with you. It is incredible and I only wish I could write like that.

When I was in Junior high - for one year we had a girl that was named Hietler last name - don't remember her first name - she was quite pretty then.

Jackie French mentions how she came to write the book here on her website: http://www.jackiefrench.com/hitlersd.html#questions. It's much more than just a children's book IMO. I'm 18 and I still like it despite the fact I'm technically an adult. And her writing style is great (she's my second-favourite writer. My first is, well, look at my username.)
