WI Russian Communists banned in '91?

Reading a scholarly article on the Russian anthem (here: http://www.jstor.org/stable/852511?seq=14), it seems that Yeltsin considered outlawing the Communist Party after the dissolution of the USSR. As we know, this didn't happen. But what if Yeltsin actually did get his ban through? What would this mean for Russian politics?

It means nothing, as the upcoming crash from shock economics will either result in something like OTL that probably legalizes the Communist, or will result in the Communists using this to actually gain further proof that the Yeltsin is illegitimate.

Really, we're VERY lucky with how that worked in OTL. The Soviet Union could've come right back with capitalism failing on a level that even the Great Depression didn't bring.

In the very short run, perhaps a much larger Social Democratic Party that's Communist in all but name?

The Communists form a new party under a different name.

Pretty much, it'd be like die Linke in Germany.
