Looking for Precolumbian naming traditions

and names...

Inspired by This thread on premuslim berber names, do we have infos on a same way for naming traditions and personal names in many pre-'contact', colonisation and christianisation era of many cultures of the Americas?

I was wondering about Micmacs/Malecites (and other Algonquians nations) specially, but I wonder if such customs and older names survived in other peoples over americas like nahuatl (azteck) speaking peoples, Incas, Aymaras, Tupi-guaranis...
Sorry if very large and general. May be helpfull to ATLing and some tabletop rping...

1491 drops some hints about this, though less so among the Lnug/Mikmaq and the Wabenaki people.

Thank you - the title sound familiar, what is the complete name of the book? Is the kinda recent book on the massive changes brought to the world due to the 'discovery' of the Americas?

1491: New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus

Yeah, I got the second edition. It's the last thing I read on Kindle that I purchased.

I heard about this book, there was some critics that the guy pushed a bit into 'whitening history' and painting euro-setlers darker. Is it a good text?

From what I remember, the mexican used an astrology based naming system with specific days having names along the line of "3-flower" (not plural) which you arrived at by reconciling 2 different cycles within a calendar (one is 13 days long, the other 20) on the person's birthday. Some also acquired nicknames as they got older.

I'm not sure what you mean by that. You've heard he makes the Europeans worse than they were? That wasn't the impression that I got at all.

Question not related to the thread, but I was curious. Kinda such, or making dubtious claims about natives or colonisation, shoddy researches. But it seems not the case there, I see.

If anything he is too pro-native in an effort to counteract popular misconceptions. The impression of Europeans I got from it was they may have done bad things, but the diseases were all that truly mattered.
