The Great War- A collaborative Timeline
Welcome to The Great War- A collaborative Timeline. This will begin on July 28, 1914, and end on December 31st 1949(maybe later if there's interest). This will view how the first world war going differently will change the second. The Butterfly effect is not in effect for this timeline. This timeline was inspired by 50 years by ArKhan. On that note let us begin!
For now, try to keep events to 1914-1915. I'll start May 7 1915- The RMS Lusitania has a close scare after almost being attacked by the u-boat U-20. The Captain of the U20, Walther Schwieger later stated he decided not to attack the ship due to the fact he identified the ship as a passenger vessel.

12th February, 1916: Thanks to good weather conditions, the 5. Armee under the command of the Kronprinz starts a massive bombardament around Verdun, inflicting heavy losses to the French, caught by surprise while they are reorganizing the defence of the area after the arrival the same day of two divisions.
Protected by the Krupp artillery, the German soldiers advance into the enemy lines, and break them in various points. Four days later, the strategic site of Fort Douaumont falls with no difficulties, opening the road to Verdun... 20th March, 1916: Germans diplomats approach in Switzerland Italian emissaries trying to sew the relations between Italy and Germany after the rupture of the Triple Alliance. Berlin is willing to give concessions to Rome and to try solving once and for all the Irridentist question with Austria-Hungary...
