I have this game. I reckon it's highly underrated. I really like the character system.
Had a pretty badass game as Pergamum going.

I suck at this game. How do 5000 heavy infantry lose to 2500 light infantry and archers?
On an open plain no less. The combat system is really screwed up. |

actually its fairly realistic...just cos you have superior numbers and good terrain doesn mean youll instantly win...look up roman military history and youll see what i mean

I've been playing this game. But if you are a dictator, then game will be become easy, must be balanced. Wait for EU:Rome 2.

In any EU game your armies need generals to be effective, and the ai usually gets better ones than you (depending on difficulty). Discipline and morale are also pretty important, so take ideas that boost these if you want a boost for your military.
