Can you give us some history from this TL? It looks interesting. In particular, how did Chile become a power?

Hm: if you exclude mega-Chile and mega-Japan, it looks kinda like Decades of Darkness with the German Reich gone bad.

A map depicting the numerous alliances and blocs of the world in 2060, from the collaborative timeline Progress, Decline, and Hope (link in my sig). If anyone has any questions regarding countries or other aspects of the timeline based on this map, don't hesitate to ask. Aero is the timeline's founder and overlord, so you could also PM him for more detail.

Also, what's the deal with Venezuela, Columbia, and Uruguay? Joint suzerainty? Some kind of supra-national union?

What's up with Bermuda and the Falkland Islands?

And any plans to use a good basemap?

They're just things we overlooked in the map - both are still British. Just a little coloring error. Thanks for catching that!

What's wrong with the current basemap? Looks fine to me.

Cheers,
Ganesha

It's hideous. Grossly inaccurate, too.

It is missing a lot of detail newer maps had, like the Pacific Islands and Antarctica, plus it looks better.

What's Fiji up to? Tonga? Vanuatu? Where is poor New Caledonia?
How about the Marshall Islands?
Kiribati?

Are those the Lakshadweep Islands, the Maldives, or both?

And Hawaii, get back where you belong!

I suggest the Basemap thread have it's first four pages edited to be as up to date as possible, then.

Someone suggested starting a basemap thread II, which I did, but nothing came of it.

The section in the wiki that had all the old rectangle-style basemaps has been removed, which is good, but doesn't stop the occasional old basemap from being used.

Independent would have probably made more sense, but I was really into Wanking Imperial Germany.

There really isn't much, I had this idea for a 1984-like world except with Imperial Japan, Imperial Germany, a massive United States that proclaims to be anti-colonialist and yet is busy fighting it out with Chile over control of South America. Germany is kind of a crazy military dictatorship with the Kaiser as a figure head.

Depends on how you define fair. After all, according to this map (National Geographic, 1918), all of those areas were majority Greek.

Said map is completely wrong as well.

While their were certainly Greek Minority populations along the Anatolian West coast, IIRC their was only a very small area (near Izrmir) that was majority Greek.

Not to mention the map also shows the poles of Austrian Galicia (including Krakow!) as Ruthenians
