A French March of Ides

I was surfing through the internetz when I came across to the page of Lucien Bonaparte. Apparently, he was a true revolutionary, which lead to some issues between him and his older brother. He however did aid him the in the 18th brumaire coup, by stopping a unit of grenadiers and galvanized them, saying he would run his sword through Napoleon if he ever betrayed the principles of the revolution. Obviously he didn't since Napoleon became the emperor of France. incidentally, his jacobin name was Brutus. Thus I began thinking, what if Lucien did keep his oath, and was the French Brutus and napoleon the French Caesar?
Here is a link on him:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucien_Bonaparte

Or a revolutionary coup lead by and implemented by Lucien? after Napoleon takes power, he organizes his murder and recreates the revolutionary government.

That was what I was going for. However, for this coup, he would probably need military support as well. I'm sure there had to be someone within the military who disliked Napoleon.

Also, Lucien had a lot of the same allies of Napoleon, and was to person who prevented the coup from failing. Perhaps some of napoleons old allies realized this as well?
