Flag Challenge No. 59

Countless separatist movements have existed, and countless have failed. Your goal is to create a flag for a new state created as the result of a successful separatist movement within the following parameters:

- The movement must exist or have existed and failed. Please include a link to a source on your chosen separatist movement.

- The state must not have existed as a sovereign entity or for a significant period of time before the separation. Revivalist movements are okay, but attempting to recreate, say, Xinjiang, is not.

- The new state, if essentially a seceding subdivision of the parent country, must differ significantly from the previous denominational government. The "significantly" clause is up for interpretation, but keep in mind that this should not be a simple split.

The Principality of Basque-Navarre
"After the fall of the European Union, due to the United Kingdom and Germany leaving in order to avoid the crippiling recession that had hit after France defaulted, Spain fell into political, economic and civil chaos, with a sham election leading to PP leader, Mariano Rajoy, to a second term in office. His right winged ideals, declaration of martial law after the battle of Barcelona), and military crackdowns culminated in a large attack of nationalist, anarchist and left wing movements against the Spainish goverment, culminating int he destruction of the National Congress, leading to the deaths of Rajoy, King Philip VI and leading memebers of the spainish military.
This broke th chain of sucession and allowed nationalist and anti-govermnet forces to seize power in various parts of the country, leading to its breakup into 5 nations: The Community of Valencia, Catalan Republic, Andalucian Nation, the Second Kingdom of Spain (first as a goverment in exile, then with their taking back of the north and central regions), and finally, the Principality of Basque-Navarre, formed as a union between the Basque and Navarren regional councils into a constiational elective monarchy. They elected Iñigo Urkullu (then leader of the PNV) as their first prince (styled as Prince Odo Urkullu), and (during the war between the 8th French Republic and the Allied Communes of France) managed to seize and reunify the entire Greater Basqyue Country.
The Principlaity would later go on to form one of the founding members of the Second Iberian Union, one of the worlds rising alliances and in comeptition with the British League and the Second Holy Roman Empire"

When the Southern Cameroons, or Ambazonia, gains recognized independence from Cameroon, now Cameroun, they change their flag a bit to make it "prettier".

The colors and stuff stand for the same things, it's just the design that they change.

The flag of the Tenere Republic, the first Tuareg state. Established in the Agadez region of Niger its capital is, naturally, Agadez. While de facto an Islamic dictatorship, government control is spare and provides a stark contrast to the slowly democratizing Niger.

The flag of Akal Ne Tenere, as the natives refer to it, has a green Agadez Cross in the center, whose colour stands for the Muslim faith of the population, while the cross itself stands for the unity of the people with God and for the protection of the republic and its people from evil, as well as the desire to represent the entirety of the Tuareg people with its four corners representing the world. White obviously stands for peace, while the red border was added to symbolize the blood shed by the Tuaregs during their struggle for independence.

Flag of the Socialist Republic of Azerbaijan, a Soviet-backed state that broke away from Iran after WW2 consisting of the area of Iranian/South Azerbaijan. The uses typical communist symbols including a red field, red stars and a cog and hoe emblem representing the industrial and agricultural workers. The emblem is above a stylised fire which represents both the Azeri people and the communist revolution. The eight-pointed star is another Azeri symbol and the blue is for the country's independence from Iran. The text is initials of the county's full name in Azeri in Latin (Azərвajcan Sosialist Respuвlikasь) and Cyrillic (Азәрбајҹан Сосиалист Республикасы).

The Silesian People's Party does better out of WWII leading to:

The Socialist Republic of Silesia

one thing....you might want to fix the post to make the flags match up in order with the vote names...cos sometimes people hit the wroung one as they dont always read...they just go by flag position

It seems that that might be the case. I didn't think people would be that incapable of discerning for what they're voting, but oh well. I'll try to do better next time.
