I plan to do more on the patch tomorrow, but I wanted to post this for feedback/in case people can make use of it.

The Aral Sea was'nt that big in 2010; their was a period in August of that year it grew somewhat because of massive snowmelt, but it shrunk back pretty quickly.

As I said, the Aral Sea is prone to rather large seasonal fluctuations at the moment, though you're right that even with snowmelt it wasn't that large. I'm somewhat suspicious that what I and my source have labelled as 2010 is actually 2000.

This is a bit better, I hope. 2010 is still not right, but 2009 should be a lot better. Difficult to find accurate sources that aren't trying to prove one thing or another. Might just copy the eastern basin over for 2009...

Hi all. Quick question: what is the total volume of the earths water if the sea level were to drop by 300 ft (roughly). I am trying to figure out how much water we could export from Earth to Venus. To also include the whole of Antarctic Ice, excluding the ice shelves.

Here's a patch for Timor. I think I messed up a bit in the north, though. If anyone wants to have a go at it, that would be great.

Also, irrelevant to this patch, but isn't Lord Howe Island too small to show up on the Q-BAM?

Lord Howe Island is 14.55 km^2, so it's bigger than a number of islands we have on the map.

Just eyeballing your Timor patch, Oecusse District looks a bit too large, maybe it goes south a bit too far?

Does anyone have a QBAM with second-level internal subdivisions for PRChina? I can't draw them for sh*t.

Since we have all these updates, fixes, patches etc. .... did anyone add them to the Q-Bam map and wants to post this new updated one, please?
Thanks.

Is there any chance that some helpful soul could change the national borders to being a different colour to the coastline borders? In some regions, particularly the Croatian border as it approaches the Adriatic, it is very difficult to tell one from the other.

Also, any movement on the East Timor border? I can just whack in the one future8 did, but stateless_englishman had concerns.

Black is the standard on ALL the Basemaps and color systems for National borders.

The easiest thing to do is keep a Blank Map on hand to compare.

Is there a blank QBAM? I don't have one, could you share?

Somehwere, I don't know, unlike the CS Basemaps, the Q-BAM maps are'nt organized or all posted in a central location.

I did it with the Worlda... I suppose I could do it with the Qbam here soon.

That was you?

There's really only a few trouble-spots, though the Croatian one drive me nuts. Most of the others are from where a land border comes from a river large enough to be drawn as a part of the coastline.

Iori, I've had a bit of a poke about for QBAM bases, and the closest I can find is the Regions map from the wiki, though of course it's heinously out of date. I might work on it a bit tonight and see what happens.

Incidentally, is there a layered format that the free editors can use? I've had idle thoughts about putting together a few options as different layers, but I work in Photoshop, and I don't want to leave people out of the loop.

On the Worlda, there's the Croatian border and the Kaliningrad Oblast one that always confused me.

Paint.Net's layered format is .pdn, which is what I use.

Another attempt at the Aral Sea, created using NASA satellite imagery from 2000-2010 (Also, in reverse the Aral Sea looks like the tragic story of the creation and submersion of Voronezh Island).

That's not a format I can save as, sadly. Can Paint.Net open .psd files?

Also, did you have any input on the Timor map?

No, it can't.

I think Gimp can, or perhaps Inkscape (though I tried it once and found it a wretched program. Seemed either impossible or unreasonably complicated to change the colour of a path line).

Gimp can by default, but I wondered if there were working psd import/export plugins for Paint.Net, as iirc development is very plugin based.

Inkscape is a vector art program, rather than a raster one like Gimp, Paint.Net or Photoshop. I use it myself for coats of arms and flags.
