Editing a Post
Do you think we could remove the time limit on when you can edit your post. I find this very annoying, as I post a TL, then realize I want to change something, and I can't.
I don't see why it would be a problem if people could edit their posts any time they wanted. I've been to a lot of boards that uses a no time-limit rule, and they do not misuse it to any point worth getting mad over. Also, I think we have overall a more mature board, so that editing previous posts long after they are posted won't be a problem, unless there is a desire to fix a typo or rewrite a sentence. Is there any way we can do this? Maybe we could post a poll to see the general opinion on this topic? Thanks, Darkest90 |

I'd be for it. But wouldn't it place more of a strain on the server?
That seems to be Ian's response to any proposed change. ![]()

Hmmm, I don't know any of the details on what would happen if this were allowed. Would it really have that much of an impact on the server?
Questions. |

There are two problems with unlimited post editing.
First, it gives free reign to trolls to make offensive posts, then edit them out after people have seen them but before the admin has time to respond. Second, if you're editing a post well after sending it, it's generally hard to actually direct readers to the change. |

So, what's the alternative? Just create a new thread called version 2, version 3, version 4 when you mess up repeatedly?
I understand that people could abuse this, and I agree with you... But maybe the edit time could be a little longer? Like... two or three hours? You shouldn't get too much trollage with that limit. |
