Rwanda genocide articles

Since the 10th anniversary is approaching of the outbreak of the Hutu genocide against the Tutsis, I'll include 2 articles on the 1994 Rwanda genocide which I read and used back in 2000 when I undertook my Law Honours thesis on the UN and humanitarian intervention under int'l law:

Feil, S.R. (1998), "Preventing Genocide How the Early Use of Force Might Have Succeeded in Rwanda", A REPORT TO THE CARNEGIE COMMISSION ON PREVENTING DEADLY CONFLICT April 1998, http://www.ccpdc.org/pubs/rwanda/rwanda.htm

Dorn, A.W., Matloff, J., and Matthews, J. (1999), "Preventing the Bloodbath: Could the UN have Predicted and Prevented the Rwandan Genocide ?", Occasional Paper #24, Cornell University, Peace Studies Program Nov 1999, http://www2.psych.cornell.edu/Dorn/rwanda_099.html

These articles discuss both the pol and other circumstances before and during the genocide, including with the UN peacekeeping presence and counterfactual scenarios associated with Gen Romeo Dallaire's claim that with 5000 well-equipped reinforcements, he could've stopped the genocide in its tracks. The 1st article esp argues that a unit like the 101st Airborne Div's DRB could've, if speedily deployed, made a significant difference to protecting the lives of so many defenceless Rwandan civilians from the genocidaires.
