"(No) new posts" marks

Seems as marking with "no new posts" and "new posts" doesn't work correctly for some reasons.

Oo - marking where what ? If it means you can select a thread to have no new posts to it, I would expect it is a moderator only function...

I mean those marks:

The seem not to work correctly - threads that I've actually read aren't marked with "no new posts". It seems to happen when I jump directly from thread to main board.

Re: "(No) new posts" marks

Oh, I see...

Well, it depends how the board is set up to decide what is a NEW post. You are expecting it to be cookies-related, and the signs different for each user dependant on whether there have been any changes there since last visit - as is the case with the 'NEW' tags at the old board

However, a lot of boards define new posts as being within a certain time period, determined by the board and related to individual users. It could well be that that is the case here, which would be somewhat unfortunate as such timespan-related indicators rarely tell anyone anything useful

Some are even set to call all forums with a posting that MONTH as being in possession of new posts

Maybe if its one sort, but should be the other the power exists for Ian to sort it out ? Some bright yellow 'New' signs would be better, as obviously I had noticed the ticks at all

Re: "(No) new posts" marks

But, if I jump from thread (this one, for example) to sub-board (e.g. "Help and feedback"), thread is correctly marked as "no new post"!

BTW, is there any world for such mark?
