WI: A Reagan/Nixon ticket makes the Watergate Scandal. and Reagan is impeached
in the presidents from 1960-2020 theard. in one of the timelines I put a Reagan/Nixon ticket in 72 responsible for Watergate. with Reagan being impeached and resigning. and someone else mentioned in might be a interesting seperate theard. so I posted it.
What If A Reagan/Nixon ticket in 72 got elected. then Reagan got impeached for Watergate? |

I don't think Nixon would take VP. I mean, what'd be the point? The VP doesn't exert a lot of power, and by the time 1976 roles around, he'll be too old to run for President. I would think he'd try to go for maybe Secretary of State, or just not get involved.

A. Nixon would not agree to be Reagan's VP, and it's unlikely that Reagan would even ask him to be VP.
B. The specific scandal Watergate would not happen outside of the OTL Nixon presidency. C. The chances of Reagan being at the center of a presidency-ending scandal during an early '70s presidency are very slim. Having said that, if your scenario did come to pass, we'd have a politically weakened and neutered RMN serving as the 38th POTUS and probably losing in '76 to the Democratic nominee (depending on what foreign and domerstic issues arise during his presidency and how he faces them). It would be unlikely Nixon agrees to be Reagan's VP. I think that would damage his pride of having experience already in the White House.

What Lord Grattan said. It worked the opposite way as well- Reagan steadfastly refused to consider the vice-presidency in '68 IOTL.

I would have to agree that after spending two terms as Eisenhower's VP and then running for President in 1960, Nixon's not likely to accept being Vice President again.
